Because if they a job , raise a wife, children, protect their lives, then they cannot hate mafias and robbers. Whereas the awakened person first targets the mafia and robbers.
Now the entire society devotion and has become a zombie, then how will anyone tolerate a living or awakened person?
The result is that the awakened person is declared mad or becomes a victim of the mafia, or is forced to live alone in some dark corner.
